ARE YOU A FRIEND OF GOD?

Who is a friend? The Cambridge dictionary defines a “friend” as a person who you know well and who you like a lot. In Christaindom today everyone claims to be a friend of God, but not many know the terms and conditions of man’s friendship with God.

In the book of John 15:14-15:

“15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you”

It simply means that if you do not follow the instructions, the commandments, the word of God contained in the Bible, no matter your position in the house of God or the church you attend. You are not a friend of God.

A true friend of God will not hurt the heart of God by disobeying his word, blaspheming the power of God, a true friend of God doesn’t keep the past mistakes of others, he loves genuinely, forgives and forgets, a true friend of God will always be prayerful and will not take any decision without hearing from God first. A true friend of God keeps to righteousness.

Abraham was a friend of God because he obeyed every word he heard from God. No wonder God said in Genesis 18:17:

Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

Remember God will not hide anything from his true friends, even the blessings of His kingdom. He speaks with them, to guide their feets, to help them and even sometimes to take decisions from them as we read in the book of Genesis.

Many of us have lived through this year without being a friend of God. Year 2020 is just about the corner and God is still waiting to see if you will accept his hand of friendship, if you are ready to move your relationship with him above every voice you are hearing. Don’t allow the devil put in filthy thoughts in your heart that you are not worthy, remember that God’s main plan of man’s creation is to have fellowship with him, to be his friend and to be his God.
